Our Impact On Teachers

"These programs have meant so much to me as well as to my students. I can see the personal growth and academic achievements among my students as a result of the volunteers. I have used Boston Partners in Education for many years, and I truly appreciate the quality help I receive from them."
–Third grade teacher, Holland School

Faced with growing demands of classroom instruction, budget cuts and administrative paperwork, teachers are often looking for help in providing struggling students with the individual attention they need to become better learners.

The goal of our programming is to support student advancement and the work of Boston's public school teachers. A partner of the Boston Public School system for over 40 years, we have a unique approach to training and managing volunteers and an in-depth understanding of the educational and emotional needs of children.

Some of the advantages of a Boston Partners in Education volunteer academic mentor to a teacher are:

  • Our volunteer academic mentors are trained in mentoring and either math or English Language Arts
  • Our volunteer academic mentors are screened according to the guidelines created by Boston Partners in Education for the Boston Public Schools
  • All volunteer academic mentors must pass a criminal and sexual offender record inquiry (CORI/SORI)
  • Our volunteer academic mentors will be matched to a student as closely as possible
  • Boston Partners in Education’s volunteers are present in the classroom during the school day when teachers need help the most

Boston's school children can benefit from strong academic mentors who are there to assist them as they navigate through their formative learning years. We encourage Boston's teachers to learn more about our School Volunteer Program, as well as our other academic mentoring programs.
