Our Impact On the Boston Public Schools

"We are so fortunate to have volunteer mentors and tutors in classrooms throughout the Boston Public Schools.  Thanks to Boston Partners in Education, our students and teachers receive valuable support from members of the community who are committed to helping all children reach their full potential."
--  Dr. Carol Johnson, Superintendent, Boston Public Schools

With over 40 years of experience understanding education policy, successful training models, and curriculum development, we can effectively address the needs of students as the premier partner of Boston Public Schools.

Some of the ways Boston Partners in Education impacts the Boston Public Schools include:

  • During the 2008-2009 school year, our 914 volunteer academic mentors reached over 5,899 K-12 Boston Public School students to help them make positive strides in their academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Our in-kind contribution to the Boston Public Schools during the 2008-2009 academic year totaled $1.58 million.
  • On average, GPAs of students participating in our Math Rules! program improved in math by 18.3% and overall by 12.7%.
  • 100% of 11th and 12th grade students tutored in math at Boston Community Leadership Academy passed the math MCAS exam--a requirement for graduation.
  • 80% of seventh- and eighth-graders surveyed who had participated in Power Lunch as elementary students reported that they continue to read for fun outside of school.  90% reported that Power Lunch changed their attitude toward reading, and 100% would recommend Power Lunch to other students.
