Our oldest and largest program continued strong this year, providing volunteers to 1,687 students!
My experience with Boston Partners in Education has further solidified my belief that there is a strong impact to increasing resources and capacity within the classroom; even if I am mentoring one student, the other students also get to interact with me and the teacher has more opportunities to focus his time with other specific students too.

Spotlight on AIM High
Aim High at Boston Community Leadership Academy
One of the highlights of the School Volunteer Program is Aim High, a year-long program designed to mentor students in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades as they strive to improve their skills and confidence in Math and English Language Arts, enabling them to grasp difficult concepts, boost their academic performance and ultimately succeed on standardized tests such as the MCAS. Mentors also serve as positive role models, encouraging students in their school work and beyond.
Aim High has successfully run at Boston Community Leadership Academy (BCLA), a pilot school in Brighton, since 2003. The program works well thanks to the strong working partnership between Boston Partners in Education and the staff at BCLA – the program has consistently improved students’ grades and MCAS scores every year since its inception.
